Fortune Wins Mail Code: 10-Minute Free Entry Rule Deleted

Fortune Wins has deleted the rule letting players request a new Mail Code every 10 minutes and replaced it with a waiting period shown only inside a logged-in account, in version 4.7 of its Sweepstakes Rules dated August 13, 2026. The Mail Code is the number you need for its free, no-purchase mail-in entry route. Where v4.6 promised "You can request a new Mail Code every 10 minutes," v4.7 says you may request one "after the waiting period shown on the Mail Code page" and that the interval "may be updated from time to time at the Company's discretion." The guarantee has moved out of a versioned contract and behind a login.

We fingerprint the Sweeps Rules at Fortune Wins and diff every version against the last. Version 4.6 was dated July 31, 2026. Version 4.7 is dated August 13. Across 31,572 characters, almost everything that moved was typography and clause renumbering. One sentence changed meaning, and it governs the free entry route.

What exactly changed in Fortune Wins' Sweeps Rules?

Clause 3.2.4.1 covers generating the unique Mail Code you have to write on a handwritten request. Both versions open identically. Only the last sentence differs.

Nothing else in clause 3.2.4 moved. A valid free entry still takes five steps, and v4.7 changes only the timing of the first:

1. Generate a unique Mail Code on Fortune Wins' Mail Code page and write it on the request. This is the step whose interval is no longer published.
2. Write the request by hand. Fortune Wins reserves the right to refuse a request it suspects you did not write yourself, and says it may use a third-party service to judge the handwriting.
3. One request per envelope, addressed by hand to a PO box in Thornhill, Ontario.
4. Post it from the same state as the address registered to your account.
5. Clear identity checks before you can claim - the stage our registration and KYC guide covers.

The free amount is unchanged at 500 FC per approved request.

The state list did not change either. Both versions exclude the same 15 states from the Sweepstakes Permitted Territory: Idaho, Michigan, New York, Washington, California, Louisiana, Tennessee, Nevada, Delaware, Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, Indiana, New Jersey and Montana.

Does this mean Fortune Wins made free entry harder?

We cannot say that, and we are not going to imply it. The claim is narrower: the interval is no longer published anywhere a non-customer can read it, and Fortune Wins has written itself permission to change it whenever it likes. We requested fortunewins.com/mail-code on August 14 without an account and it returns the site shell, no waiting period. A rule you can only read after signing up is not much use to someone deciding whether to sign up.

The free path is not a courtesy. It is the mechanism that keeps the two-currency model out of the definition of gambling, as our guide to how sweepstakes casinos work sets out. Terms governing it are usually the most stable clauses an operator has. This one is now explicitly variable.

What is a Fortune Wins mail entry actually worth?

Each approved request credits 500 FC, the redeemable side of the two-coin model. Clause 4.4 sets the redemption rate at $1 for every 100 FC "won through eligible gameplay," so the 500 FC is stake, not $5 sitting in your account. Clause 5.5 sets a floor: "You may redeem a minimum of 5000 FC per day." Ten approved letters put 5,000 FC in front of you, but that only reaches the floor if you play all of it and finish level or ahead. Lose any of it and you are writing more letters. Clauses 4.5 and 4.6 add a second variable: Fortune Wins reserves the right to attach a playthrough multiplier to "any FC provided by us" and to modify it "at our sole discretion," so how many times you must turn that 5,000 FC over is not fixed either. Those last two rows are ours, not Fortune Wins'. The operator publishes neither. Our earlier piece on redemption minimums across the market reads the same two clauses against High 5 Casino and Spree and puts the plain-English version of the floor at $50.

The address is the detail people miss. Fortune Wins' mailroom is in Canada, so a US player is buying international postage, not a domestic stamp. At the USPS Global Forever rate of $1.75 for a one-ounce letter, ten requests is $17.50 in stamps before you have written a word.

How long do sweepstakes casinos take to credit an envelope?

Up to three months: that is the figure eight of the nine rival help centres we read give, and Fortune Wins gives none. This is the number nobody advertises, and it is why the route disappoints people. Fortune Wins publishes none: there is no crediting deadline anywhere in v4.7. Its competitors do publish one, in their help centres rather than their terms, and they agree to an uncanny degree. We read all nine help centres we monitor on August 14.

Every one of them gives the same reason. Crediting is manual. McLuck's article puts it plainly: "Currently, this is a manual process, and we're committed to handling each submission with care. Due to the large volume of envelopes we receive, we kindly ask for your patience as it could take up to 3 months for your account to be credited."

Pulsz is the row to read twice. Its help centre carries two live articles under the identical title, "When does my account get credited for envelopes?". The one filed under Promotions, last edited October 22, 2025, keeps the number: "it can take up to 3 months for your Pulsz account to be credited." The one filed under Frequently Asked Questions, last edited April 21, 2026, drops it and says only that crediting "is a long process." Same question, same help centre, two different answers, and the newer article is the vaguer one. Pulsz Bingo runs that second version word for word and nothing else. So the figure holds at eight of the nine, and at one of those eight it survives only in the older of two articles. Three months is not a coincidence and it is not a scandal either. It is what the free route costs in practice across most of the market, and it belongs in front of anyone who reads "no purchase necessary" and hears "no wait."

Is the Fortune Wins mail-in route still worth doing?

If you play Fortune Wins and want the free path, read the waiting period on the Mail Code page inside your account before planning around any number, including the 10 minutes that used to be in the contract. It is not binding any more.

Does this change our Fortune Wins rating?

Not the score. But reading v4.7 line by line turned up a contradiction inside our own review, and we would rather print it than quietly patch it.

The data chip on our Fortune Wins review records the excluded-state count as "15 per its Sweeps Rules v4.6 (Jul 31, 2026)". That count is still right and the states are unchanged, so only the version stamp is stale. The body of the same review is the real problem: it still says Fortune Wins' "official T&C excludes only Washington, Michigan, and Idaho" and files the wider list under independent reporting. Clause 1.1.9 of the operator's own Sweepstakes Rules names fifteen states, and three of them, Louisiana, Maine and Indiana, appear nowhere in the review's wider list either. The three-state line is wrong against the primary document and it is queued for correction, not defended. The same review says free SC by postal request "should still apply" without giving the terms; it can be specific now. Fortune Wins sits 13th of 30 on our best sweepstakes casinos list and nothing here moves it.

The pattern keeps recurring. Spree published the harshest rules of its loyalty program in help articles its own terms had never heard of. McLuck runs three different restricted-state lists that disagree about Tennessee. Fortune Wins has taken a rule out of its terms and put it on a logged-in screen.
