Refer a Friend: 8 Sweepstakes Casinos Need a Purchase

Eight sweepstakes casinos we read today publish a refer-a-friend reward, and all eight condition it on the person you invited spending money. The invitation pages talk about free rewards and a link to share; the qualifying purchase sits in a second article. Only Spree of the eight publishes the figures: 25 free Sweeps Coins once your friend spends $50 or more, and 75 more only once their purchases total $1,000 or more.

Spree is the exception, and its figures show why the other seven stay quiet. They publish the condition and leave the amount out: a "qualifying purchase" at five of them, "purchased Gold Coins" at the other two.

We read the eight this morning because PlayFame published a new article on September 28, 2026 explaining where a referral code goes at sign-up, which was the first movement in this corner of the family's help centres since August. Nothing else in the eight changed today. What follows is the standing state of the offer, and it is the kind of thing worth knowing before you send a link rather than after.

What does each brand require before it pays a referral?

A purchase, in every case. The wording changes; the condition does not.

The first four are word-identical because they run one document. McLuck, Hello Millions, SpinBlitz and PlayFame all publish the same four-bullet checklist, and all four sit in the B-Two brand portfolio, though the company named in each brand's own terms is not always the same one. Three of those copies were created on August 6, 2026, between 14:59 and 16:09 UTC; PlayFame's is an older article, created in August 2024, whose body was rewritten to the same text at 14:47 UTC on August 6. That was the afternoon the family rewrote 100 help-centre articles in one pass.

Three of them also run a second article, "How does the Refer a Friend program work?", and two of those give the template away. McLuck's copy opens: "Our Refer a Friend program lets you earn rewards by inviting eligible friends to join PlayFame." So does Hello Millions'. Both are describing a rival brand on their own help centre, and the closing line of all three copies says the terms "may vary depending on the current promotion and your brand" - a sentence written for the operator, not the player.

How much does your friend have to spend?

At Spree, $1,000 of their money for the full 100 coins.

Its help-centre page is the only one of the eight that publishes numbers: "You'll earn 25 FREE Sweeps Coins when your friend spends $50+" and "an additional 75 FREE Sweeps Coins when they purchase $1,000+". It then tells you the 100 coins are "as many times as you want. Just get each new friend to sign up using your unique magic link".

Spree's own rulebook says otherwise. We read the Sweepstakes Rules on spree.com this morning, and clause 3.2.7 is the referral method: you get 25 free coins for each friend who registers "and purchases Gold Coin Packages valued at $50 or more", and "when a referred friend makes further purchases totalling $1,000 or more, you will receive an additional 75 SC". The same clause closes with a limit the help centre never mentions: "Up to a maximum of one-hundred friends can be referred per 12-month period." The help centre says as many times as you want. The rulebook says one hundred a year. Those are not the same promise, and the rulebook is the document you agreed to.

The two texts also differ on the second tier. The help centre reads as a flat $1,000 of purchases. The rulebook says "further purchases totalling $1,000 or more", which reads as $1,000 on top of the qualifying $50.

Because clause 3.2.7 is a Section 3.2 method, clause 6.1 catches the coins it pays: Spree Coins "acquired by Entrant by any method available under Section 3.2 must first be played through in an applicable Sweepstakes Game at least once" before they count toward a redemption minimum. Referral coins are not an exception. You have to gamble them once before they are worth anything.

The arithmetic is then worth doing, and it is better than it first looks. Clause 6.3 prices a cash prize at "$1.00 USD for each qualifying Sweepstakes Coin", above a minimum balance of 100 coins, so the full referral payout is exactly one cash redemption and it takes $1,000 of your friend's purchases to reach it. But clause 6.4 sets a separate gift-card floor of 10 coins at the same $1 rate. The 25 coins from the $50 tier clear that floor on their own. They are $25 in gift cards after one play-through, not a stranded balance.

Where is the purchase condition published?

Never on the page that invites you to refer.

Mega Bonanza's "How do I Refer-a-Friend?" article tells players to "refer a friend to MegaBonanza.com and earn free rewards", explains the Copy Link button, and asks you to make sure friends sign up through it. The purchase condition is absent. It appears in a separate article about when the reward arrives, which adds: "Your friend purchased Gold Coins." PlayFame's refer-a-friend article has the same shape and the same omission.

Pulsz runs two live copies of its referral article at once, under the same title, and they are not identical: one requires "a Gold Coin package purchase", the other "a qualifying Gold Coin package purchase". Both also require that the new account is "the first and only account the invited friend has with us", so a lapsed player returning under your link earns you nothing. Pulsz is the one brand of the seven without a published figure that at least points somewhere specific for it: both copies link to its own refer-a-friend promotions page "for the terms and conditions". That page returned HTTP 403 to us on every attempt this morning, so we cannot tell you what it says. None of this is hidden in the sense of being unpublished. It is published one click away from the page doing the asking, which is a different thing, and it changes what you are actually sending your friend. What should you check before sharing a link?

Read the second article, not the first. Find the brand's "when will I get my reward" page and see whether it names a spend tier. At seven of the eight it names no figure at all, and the B-Two programme pages say outright that the requirements "may vary depending on the current promotion", which leaves the trigger for your reward set by a document you have not been shown. Then read the rulebook, not just the help centre. Spree is the one brand here that publishes its referral terms in both places, and the two disagree on how often you can claim. Where a brand publishes only the help-centre version, you have no way to check it against anything.

Finally, check what the coins are worth where you are sending them. Most brands publish two redemption floors, a low one for gift cards and a higher one for cash, and a referral reward can clear the first without coming close to the second. Can I get a referral reward if my friend never buys coins?

Not at any of the eight brands we read. All eight publish a purchase condition, either as a named spend figure or as an unspecified "qualifying purchase" set by the promotion in force.

Does the promo code go in at sign-up?

At PlayFame, yes. An article published on September 28, 2026 tells players to enter a promo or referral code in the "Referred By" field during registration, then complete sign-up. It does not describe any route to apply a code to an existing account. Are these rewards Gold Coins or Sweeps Coins?

Only Spree says. Its articles and its rulebook both put the reward in Sweeps Coins, the redeemable currency. The other seven name a reward without naming its currency: Mega Bonanza and Jackpota mention Gold Coins only on the friend's side, as the thing the friend has to buy, and the B-Two checklist and both Pulsz copies say nothing about currency at all. A reward paid in Gold Coins cannot be redeemed for anything.
